Thank you for this interesting report. P2019-184632A includes 7 examples, of which 5 are 70-200 f/2.8 lenses. Their optical formulas are close to that of the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM announced today, see https://cweb.canon.jp/eos/rf/lineup/rf70-200-f28l/image/spec/spec-lens-construction.png as a reference.
It's therefore the request for patenting the optical formula of the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, not that of a hypothetical 70-250mm f/4 (one example in the patent request) or 70-300mm f/4-5.6 (one example too)。

You are sure, but 70-250mm f/4 is more impressive than 70-200mm f/2.8 for me.
I love a small lens (also with reasonable price too)。
